I started running TAB boards in 2014 in the South Lancashire area, cover St Helens and Wigan. My original motivation for starting the TAB business was that I had worked with many private business owners throughout my careers. I have tremendous respect for what they do. I also observed that most business owners could benefit from some really good third party advice. I had seen the value that Boards of Directors provide to larger businesses and believed that smaller businesses would also benefit substantially from objective advice. While consultants, family members and employees can provide a useful sounding board, only business owners can truly appreciate what other business owners are going through.
When I learned about TAB Boards and the model of establishing Business Owner Advisory Boards, I thought this would be a great service for private business owners. I also believe that TAB provides a model where I could leverage the experience that I have accumulated over my career and the passion that I have for small businesses, to make a real difference in the companies and the lives of business owners. It felt like the perfect fit. Now that I have been operating TAB Boards for years, I can’t imagine doing anything else.
Our members include the full spectrum of business areas, including manufacturing, construction and professional services. They have bonded with each other at a very profound level and have derived tremendous value from being part of a TAB Board.
